[ad_1]

Twitter introduced last week a new feature that lets you add NFTs as a profile picture. This is nothing more than a way to show off the NFTs collection you have. As of now, this feature could be used only from the iOS app but once you have updated with the NFT image, it would show up in the hexagonal throughout all the platforms.

Hexagon Shaped NFTs

Using this feature like shown in the screenshot above, you would require you to actually associate your crypto wallet with the Twitter account and then it would be seamless to use the NFTs as profile pictures.

A few things to remember

There are a couple of things you need to remember before jumping into adding NFTs as profile pictures.

  • First things first, twitter will never be involved into any crpto transactions. This feature is just a way to showcase your NFTs in Twitter. It has nothing to do with the buying or selling so it will never request you for any transactions.
  • Twitter doesn’t require your private key for any reason. So, any request to share that is a scam.
  • Twitter stores your public wallet address to maintain the connection between your twitter account and also your crypto wallet.

If all of these seems a little too much, then here’s a refresher of what NFTs are and how you can manage them.

NFTs and NFT Profile Pictures

So, NFTs are non-fungible tokens which means its a non-interchangable data that is stored on the blockchain. Its not like a file on your computer which you can copy and copy and copy. Once its on the blockchain, its permanent and it cannot be copied. Obviously you can sell it or buy it but those become permanent record of the blockchain ledger.

NFTs are mostly files like photos, videos and audio. Unlike cryptocurrencies, NFTs can be identified easily while currencies can be identified only via transactions as to who bought it or sold it.

So, what is NFT Profile picture?

Currently art pieces are mainly a big part of the NFT collections all across the world. So, if you have an NFT art piece, Twitter allows you to use it as a profile picture but it would look different from the normal profile picture because of its hexagonal shape.
